Holcombe Brook and Summerseat WI

We entered our first summer fair with a mix of anticipation, excitement and anxiety. Would we have enough stock? (Yes!) Would it rain? (Yes!) Were we all mad? (The jury is still out...) Cath created a wonderful new sign for our stall. Safe to say that it was a fabulous day and went amazingly well. Our plants and seedlings flew off the stall as quickly as Deborah could price them up and our cakes and crafts did a very brisk business too. Alison (wo)mans the craft stall. (She had a neat line in sales patter!) Maggie bags and price tags all the baked goods. You really can't have a WI stall at a summer fair without scrummy cakes! Everyone was so welcoming and we were delighted with the large turnout (despite the sodden weather). Bring on next year!

I feel like we should have a sound effect on this blog post. A drum roll, cymbal clash or something to celebrate that we've ( finally !) taken the leap and created a blog. Woo hoo! So thanks for joining us and by way of introduction, I'd like to tell you a bit about who we are and what we do. We are the Holcombe Brook and Summerseat branch of the Women's Institute (part of the Lancashire Federation). We are a cross-generational WI and our members range from stay-at-home mums with young families to women who work full-time and retired ladies (and just about every combination in-between). We are quite a young WI - we were only established in 2012 so we are learning the ropes and still full of enthusiasm and energy!
